Golden Latte

Golden Latte or better known as “Golden milk” is a traditional Indian drink based on Ayurveda. It is simple to make yet tasty and vegan while it provides benefits for your body through the curcumin in turmeric has various benefits to your physical condition. Served hot or cold – it is the perfect afternoon energy booster when you need something to tide you over until dinner. Exclusive recipe by our Executive Chef Martin Göschel to enhance your wellbeing straight from The Alpina Gstaad to your homes.

 

Ingredients

250 ml unsweetened coconut milk

150 ml water

1 tablespoon agave syrup

1 inch fresh turmeric, thinly sliced, or ¼ teaspoon ground dried turmeric, plus a pinch of ground dried turmeric for serving

½ inch fresh ginger, peeled, thinly sliced, and smashed

¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

A pinch of cayenne pepper

 

Instructions

1. In a small pot, add all ingredients, put over medium heat until it lightly starts to boil.

2. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

3. Remove from heat; strain and discard solids.

4. Whisk while warm until frothy. Sprinkle with ground turmeric before serving. Best served immediately, though leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat on the stove.

 

If your Golden Latte is too spicy, add some coconut milk or almond milk.
