Bordeaux En Primeur
After 2 years of restricted travel, Bordeaux hosted the annual En Primeur week from 24th – 28th April 2023. The great Châteaux which is made up of the Union des Grand Crus (UGC), and the negotiants (wine dealers) they work with, welcomed the world’s wine traders, critics and journalists to their annual En-Primeur tastings in the last week of April.
With over 6,000 participants attending, The Alpina Gstaad tasted its way through the 2022 vintage in a series of pre-arranged appointments. This pleasurable experience quickly turns into a meticulous, time-consuming process, where it is not enough to be a wine loving tourist, but rather a bona-fide taster.
Most of the Châteaux visited were located in the districts of Médoc, Haut-Médoc and Libourne, with wine tastings specifically taking place in Pomerol and the idyllic medieval village of St Émilion. Equipped with their notes and ratings of over 400 wines, Pierfranco Lavra and Andrea Ferrari have already curated an exclusive selection of what you will be tasting on the Alpina wine menu by 2024. Yes, you will have to be patient as the selected wines will only be available on the market in 2 years’ time.
