1st August 2025 - Swiss National Day

In 1291, the cantons of Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden pledged to protect each other against Habsburg rule, marking the official signing of the Letter of Confederation. Since 1891, 1st August has been celebrated as Swiss National Day, a time when the federal unity of the Confederation is expressed through the vibrant display of Swiss flags, paper lanterns illuminating the streets, and bonfires lighting up the night sky.

Swiss National Day at The Alpina Gstaad

At The Alpina Gstaad, we take pride in honoring this significant event with our guests and are delighted to share this tradition with our younger visitors as well. Our festivities begin on our elegantly decorated terrace, where our restaurant and event hosts welcome you to indulge in a lavish buffet featuring a variety of warm and cold stations crafted by our chef Martin Göschel. The evening is enriched with the harmonious sounds of an alphorn blower quartet, Schwyzerörgeli (Swiss accordion), and flag wavers, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show around 10 PM, best viewed from our beautiful gardens.
