Directions

Gstaad is located in south-west Switzerland in the German-speaking canton of Bern. The region is easily accessible by train or by car from Bern and Zurich to the north and Geneva to the west. All three cities have an international airport.

If you would like to arrive more discretely, private jets may land at the small airport in Saanen, located just 6.5 kilometres from The Alpina Gstaad. We are happy to organise transfers by helicopter or limousine on request.

The Alpina Gstaad - Switzerland

Travelling by train to Gstaad is a unique Alpine experience in itself, as the village lies on the scenic GoldenPass Montreux-Oberland Bernois (MOB) railway line. Many of the old trains running through Gstaad have large windows that afford spectacular views of this iconic route through Alpine valleys and mountains.

The train line connects Gstaad with the cities of Interlaken and Montreux, both of which have good connections to Bern, Zurich, Geneva and the rest of Switzerland. The journey from Interlaken takes 1 hour 40 minutes; from Montreux the journey is 1 hour 35 minutes.

Travelling by train from London takes at least nine hours, and involves taking the Eurostar to Paris and the TGV to Geneva, where you catch an interregional train to Montreux. From there, you take the GoldenPass MOB to Gstaad.
